Are you currently offering autism and ADHD assessments?

Yes. We currently have availability for private autism and ADHD assessments for children and adults across Kent, London and the South East.

With NHS waiting lists continuing to be long and changes to the Right to Choose pathway in Kent affecting access to assessments, many families and adults are looking for an alternative option.

If you are looking for an assessment sooner, our team can explain the options available and guide you through the process from your initial enquiry through to assessment and diagnosis.

How do I know if I should consider an autism or ADHD assessment?

If you or your child are experiencing ongoing difficulties with things like attention, organisation, communication, social interaction or sensory sensitivities, it can be helpful to explore whether ADHD or autism may be part of the picture. An assessment can provide clarity and help you better understand these experiences, as well as identify the right support moving forward.

What happens before I book an assessment?

We offer a free initial conversation by phone or email so you can ask any questions and talk through your concerns. This gives you the chance to speak directly with us, understand how the assessment process works, and decide whether it feels like the right step for you or your child.

Do I need a GP referral for an autism or ADHD assessment?

No. You can contact us directly to arrange a private assessment. Many families come to us themselves, and the free initial conversation is there to help you decide whether an assessment would be helpful.

Can I have an ADHD and autism assessment at the same time?

Yes. If there are questions about both ADHD and autism, we can talk this through during the initial conversation and discuss the most appropriate assessment approach.

Who will carry out my assessment?

Assessments at ConnectBlue are carried out by experienced clinicians. ConnectBlue was founded by Meg Dodd, a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, and Dr Jennifer Jackson, a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, who both have many years of experience working within the NHS, specialist diagnostic clinics and organisations such as the National Autistic Society.

Your report will always be written by the clinician who carried out your assessment. We do not use AI or automated report generation, ensuring every report is carefully written and tailored to the individual.

How are your assessments different from some online services?

Some providers offer very brief online assessments with automatically generated reports. At ConnectBlue, we focus on thorough, high quality assessments and detailed reports that can be confidently shared with schools, workplaces and other services where needed.

Can the assessment take place at home?

Yes. In many cases we can carry out face to face assessments in your own home. Many families find this helps children and young people feel more relaxed in a familiar environment. Our clinicians travel across London, Kent and the South East, and other locations may sometimes be arranged.

How long does an autism or ADHD assessment take?

We begin by gathering information through questionnaires completed at home, and at school for child assessments.

On the day of the assessment, the process typically takes around two hours. This includes a one-to-one session with the person being assessed, as well as a clinical interview.

Afterwards, our clinical team reviews all the information and arranges a feedback session, usually later the same day. If a diagnosis is appropriate, this can often be confirmed at that stage.

You will receive a detailed written report within three weeks. We also offer a follow-up call after you have received your report, so you can discuss any further questions.
